Hello, fellow Corps members! I know the big question on everyone’s mind is, when will we start receiving the new ₦77,000 allowance? It has been a long wait, but the news is finally here!
Good News: ₦77,000 Allowance is Coming Soon!
The NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has confirmed that we will start receiving ₦77,000 from February 2025. This is not just a rumor! The Federal Government has approved it and included it in the 2025 budget.
Why the Increase?
As we all know, prices have been rising, and ₦33,000 is no longer enough. The government has heard our concerns and increased the minimum wage to ₦70,000 starting from July 2024. Therefore, as they increase the minimum wage, they also need to increase our allowance. Back in 2020, when the minimum wage was raised to ₦30,000, our allowance jumped from ₦19,800 to ₦33,000.
When Exactly Will the Payment Start?
General Ahmed mentioned that once the budget is passed, we will start seeing the new amount. February is already here, so let’s be patient. Normally, allowances are paid between the 25th and 30th of every month. So let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that February’s payment will be the big one!
Things to Remember
- Keep your bank details updated to avoid any payment issues.
- Do not expect deductions from your allowance unless there was an overpayment before.
- Remember that only federal government allowances are uniform; some states may add their own stipends.
