NYSC Registration Process
How do I know when registration starts?
Don’t worry – when the NYSC registration portal opens, the news will be everywhere! You’ll hear it on social media, (Join NYSC Facebook & Whatsapp Group, Tiktok, X (Twitter), Instagram, Telegram, Whatsapp Channel All NYSC Social Media) from friends, and on the NYSC official website. Just keep your ears open and stay updated.
Which email should I use for registration?
You can use any functional email address, but Gmail works best. Avoid Yahoo mail as it sometimes delays confirmation messages. Make sure you remember your password!
Can I register with my phone?
It’s not advisable. While you might create your profile, it’s better to go to an accredited cyber cafe for proper registration to avoid mistakes.
Can someone do thumbprinting for me?
No o! You must do your thumbprint yourself. If your fingers are being difficult, clean them with spirit or water and keep trying until it works.
Do I need to pay for call-up letter printing?
There’s an optional fee of about 2,786 Naira. If you pay, you can print your call-up letter online anytime. If you don’t pay, you’ll collect from your school and if you lose it, no replacement.
Senate List and JAMB Matters
What if my name isn’t on the senate list?
If your name is missing, immediately contact your institution’s student affairs office. Only they can upload and correct senate list (What’s the NYSC Senate List? Verification How to check) issues.
Must my name be on JAMB matriculation list?
For Nigerian-trained graduates, yes! But foreign-trained graduates don’t need this.
My JAMB and school names don’t match
This is a problem! If JAMB has the wrong name, go to JAMB office for correction. If your school made the error, contact your institution immediately.
Correcting Your Details
How do I fix name spelling errors?
After registration, you can apply for name correction on your dashboard. But note: NYSC doesn’t add or remove names – for that, your institution must write officially to NYSC.
How do I correct my date of birth?
You’ll need to get a WAEC verification pin from First Bank, then use it on your dashboard to correct your date of birth.
How do I fix wrong course or class of degree?
All these corrections can be done from your dashboard, but your institution’s student affairs officer must approve them.
Orientation Camp Questions
Are laptops allowed in camp?
No, don’t bring your laptop to camp. It’s not necessary and might get stolen or damaged.
What about original documents?
Foreign-trained graduates and married women must bring all original documents. Others might need them if they look much older than their age.
Do I need my practice license as a medical graduate?
Yes, medical professionals should come to camp with their practice licenses.
Are pillows provided in camp?
You’ll get a mattress but no pillow. You can buy one from the mammy market in camp.
Can I bring mosquito net?
Yes, but if you get an upper bunk, you might need to find creative ways to hang it. Some people use nails but they might be seized at the gate.
Are there thieves in camp?
Unfortunately yes. Use a permanent marker to write your name on all your belongings. This discourages thieves.
Are there barbers and salons in camp?
Yes, there are barbers for men and hairdressers for women in every orientation camp.
Can I cook in camp?
No cooking allowed! NYSC provides food, but if you don’t like it, you can buy from mammy market.
Is church attendance compulsory?
No, but there are churches and mosques in camp for those who want to worship.
How do I keep my phone and money safe?
Use a waist bag and keep it tied around your waist always, even when sleeping.
Can guys visit female hostels?
No! Strictly prohibited.
Can I arrive at camp early?
Yes, especially if you’re posted far from home. You can come a day early.
Can I bring musical instruments?
Yes, if you play an instrument like guitar, you can bring it to camp.
Can I bring my car or bicycle?
No, not needed. You can park outside camp if you think it’s safe, but not inside.
Are pregnant women allowed in camp?
Yes, but they don’t sleep in camp. They stay outside and come for registration activities only.
Are there ATMs in camp?
Most camps don’t have working ATMs. Bring enough cash, though POS services might be available.
What time does morning parade start?
Very early! You need to wake up around 4:00am and be ready for parade by 4:30am.
Bank and Allowance Questions
Must I use the bank assigned in camp?
Yes, you should open an account with the bank assigned to you in camp for your allowance payments.
Should my BVN name match my school documents?
Yes! If they don’t match, go to your bank and update your BVN details before camp to avoid problems with your allowance account.
Other Important Questions
How long is camp?
Orientation camp lasts for 21 days, or less depending on when you resume.
What about condoms in camp?
Condoms might be distributed during HIV sensitization programs, but any sexual activity in camp is strictly prohibited and can lead to decamping!
Can married women request posting to husband’s state?
Yes, married female corps members can apply for concessional posting to their husband’s state during registration. They need to upload marriage certificate, evidence of name change, and husband’s ID.
What if I have health issues?
Those with serious health challenges should indicate their true health status during registration and upload medical reports for possible concessional deployment.
Do part-time graduates need to register?
Yes, part-time graduates should register when the portal opens to be able to print their exclusion letter.
How do I collect exemption certificate?
Nigerian-trained graduates collect from their institutions within 3 months of registration. Foreign-trained graduates come to NYSC headquarters with original documents.

The biometric process finalizes your initial registration data , and any subsequent changes to marital status (particularly to “married”) require specific supporting documents like a marriage certificate, which would not apply for reverting to “single” . The system is designed to prevent fraudulent alterations after biometric verification.

Please I have an issue. The name on my nin, birth certificate and passport does not correlate with the name on my jamb, waec, and university certificate. For instance the first name on my nin is Olufunmilola, while the first name on my university certificate is Funmilola.
My other names are the same and match.
Although I have an affidavit document stating that Olufunmilola and Funmilola belong to me, and also have a newspaper publication to verify those names belong to me.

If you clocked 30 years on the 7th of March and your graduation date is 10th of March will you still be able to serve?
Based on the official rules, you will not be able to serve and will instead receive a Certificate of Exemption. The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) decree states that a person shall not be called upon to serve if they are over the age of 30 at the date of graduation. Since you turned 30 before your graduation date, you are over the eligible age.
You should be issued a Certificate of Exemption, which is a legal equivalent to the discharge certificate for employment purposes

The nysc portal has not been available for more than a week. What has the nysc body been up to to resolve this case? I registered 2 months ago and I haven’t received call up number up till now. I urge sincerely nysc to check and rectify this issue

I will be registering for nysc next year, is it advisable for me to start my nerd registration now and upload my project now so that by next year when our school uploads our results on it everything will sync automatically and I won’t face any delay.
Or should I wait for official notice from NYSC?

I’m writing ican exams which will last from 18th-20th, so i wanted to go to camp on the 21st (I was posted to Enugu),I’m based in Benin
I wanted to ask if i could arrive at camp around 4 on the 21st and still do registration?
My exam ends on the 20th by 1pm
So do i go on the 20th or on the 21st please what would you advise?

Why have we not received anything information concerning the new account we opened until this time
There was a costly mistake in my DOB during my regularization registration at jamb office. I told them 1989 and they and I saw 1994 on my indemnity form likewise in my admission letter from Jamb. Will this affect my NYSC registration? How do I go about it?
My WAEC and Neco Certificate has 2 names, while my other official documents has 3 names. Will this affect me during online or camp registration?

I graduated since 2024 I discovered there was an omission of name on senate list I have gone to the SAO of my school to submit my name for the correction since April 2025, I keep going for follow up since then I was shown the list of error of Name on senate list which has been signed by the school authority do I was told the list will be forwarded to Abuja for the correction.
My concern now why is that is it taking this long, close to a year now the name has not been corrected till date. Why is it taking this long for nysc to correct the name on senate list, is it supposed to be this long before the name is deleted from the senate list. Because I was told the name has to be deleted on the senate before I can proceed for mobilisation in school. I have gone to students affairs officer office several times to complain about the delay but they said nothing.
Please I need your help on what can I possibly do to hasten the process
